Famine From Faith
Most of the time when I hear the word famine it is relationship to lack of food. I have never experienced a famine. I’ve been to Africa and seen how they use the land and how close to hunger they live. I’ve known children who are not sure where their next meal will come from. It is actually very depressing and demoralizing to realize how much waste we have here in the USA while others are scraping and fighting for food to feed their family.
I was reading the book of Amos this morning and discovered another type of famine that might even be more deadly. Check this out…
11 ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Sovereign Lord,
‘when I will send a famine through the land –
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.
12 People will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the Lord,
but they will not find it. (Amos 8:11-12 NIV)
I believe that this might be more deadly because I believe eternity hangs in the balance. The Lord holds the keys to my future here on earth and my eternity. I really want His guidance and His leadership in my life. His Word provides both along with inspiration for my simple life.
I love hearing from Him.
I love seeing Him work in my life and the lives of others.
I love feeling His Grace wash over me.
I love His forgiveness.
I love His Mercy.
I simply can’t imagine my life without Him. I fully intend to daily surrender my life so that He can do His work in me and through me. I don’t ever want to experience a famine of faith. I want to keep digging and studying the Word so that hunger for Him can be quenched.
Pressing On!
