Faithful & Obedient

These two terms are important when it comes to following God. The Lord requires both in my journey with Him.  In our working relationships with our employers, they need faithfulness and obedience. One without the other would harm the relationship big time.

I’ve been reading about Noah and how his obedience and faithfulness was huge.  Not only did he build a boat in the land where there was no water and no way of getting the boat to the water. He also put every specie of animal on the ark per God’s instructions. I can only imagine the amount of work and the depth and length of the commitment to obedience in this endeavor. Then he was told to go on the ark and was on the ark just over a year. That was a long time. Check this out….

13 Noah was now 601 years old. On the first day of the new year, ten and a half months after the flood began, the floodwaters had almost dried up from the earth. Noah lifted back the covering of the boat and saw that the surface of the ground was drying. 14 Two more months went by, and at last the earth was dry!(Genesis 8:12-14 NLT)

When I measure time, I do so in minutes, hours, weeks and months, years, and decades!

I don’t remember the exact time when I started following the Lord. I was very young, and I was in third grade. I remember the night my faith became my own. I was 18 years of age, and I witnessed a play where Jesus was crucified. It became very real to me and that was when I committed the rest of my life to following Him.

I sure wish I could say that I’ve been obedient and faithful ever since I’ve been following Jesus.  I have failed miserably in that regard. He has always helped me back up from a fall and restored me because of His Amazing Grace! His love and grace keep drawing me back. I want to follow Him in obedience and faithfulness for the rest of my life here on earth!

Pressing On!
