Faith & Favor
I’ve been asked to do a “favor” for someone that turned into way more than expected. I’ve also asked someone to do me a favor. I’m defining favor as “an act of kindness beyond what is usual”. I don’t usually mind doing favors if it’s in my power to do so. Favors are not something I do expecting a favor in return. Favors can be expensive. Favors can be painful. Favors can cost me more than money. Doing favors for bad people can get you locked up. You were just holding their stuff in your car for a day or so – but in the eyes of the law you were transporting illegal drugs.
The kind of favor I want from God is long-lasting and secure. King David speaks of the favor of God. This passage warmed my heart. Check this out….
4 Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you for ever. (Psalm 30:4-5;11-12 NIV)
I have deep faith in the favor of God. I believe that the Lord walks with me. I believe that He Protects me. I believe He Provides for me. I believe that Lord has shown favor to me and my family. I would rather have the favor of The Lord than to have the favor of men. I would rather have favor from The Famous One – The Lord than to become famous among men. The favor God gives not only can last a lifetime, but throughout all eternity.
