Enough Is Enough

This post is rated PG-13

Every now and then I come across a story from the Bible that is very disturbing. There were times in human history where we as humans have lost our mind. Some stories that I hear in the news of our day remind me that there are lots of lost people who seem to have zero respect for the life of another, especially if that person can do something for them.

I realize that I’m a bit naïve as to all the decadent things that happen around me today because I am a “home body”.  (There’s a whole new meaning to this with “Shelter in Place” due to the rapid spread of COVID-19.)  It breaks my heart to think of innocent people being used and abused by others who are more powerful.

This story I read in Judges this morning of a Levite man and his concubine reminded me a bit of Sodom and Gomorrah in Abraham’s day. The big difference is that the bad actors were from the tribe of Benjamin of Israel. These men abused this girl and it appears that she died from all their abuse and deviant behavior. What the Levite did next was a bit shocking, but I think he had purpose. Check this out….

29 When he got home, he took a knife and cut his concubine’s body into twelve pieces. Then he sent one piece to each tribe throughout all the territory of Israel.

30 Everyone who saw it said, “Such a horrible crime has not been committed in all the time since Israel left Egypt. Think about it! What are we going to do? Who’s going to speak up?” (Judges 19:29-30 NLT)

We have an equally disturbing trend happening in our world today with sexual slavery. I am determined to learn more about how we can stop this horrible criminal enterprise that is rampant in our large cities and even in our small towns.  At some point, we have to say “enough is enough” and stop these criminals in their tracks.

Georgia’s first lady Marty Kemp is onboard with the Grace Commission to stop human trafficking by learning what to look for in our everyday interactions with people.

Please consider watching this 30 minute video introduced by Georgia’s First Family.

I believe it’s time that we as Christ-followers do our part to help stop this criminal and decadent behavior.

Pressing On!
