Enough Is Enough

I remembered an old saying that I still hear being repeated…. “That was the straw that broke the camel’s back”! The picture I have in my mind is a camel loaded with supplies and belongings for a family and one last thing was thrown on his back and he broke down. The straw is obviously very light weight, but enough straws or enough other weight and the slightest amount could cause the break down.

The Lord had been speaking through Jeremiah for over 23 years. He had been warning Judah & Israel regarding their blatant idol worship. He had been warning that He was about to unleash punishment upon them. They totally ignored the Lord. He finally let it rip. Check this out…

34 Weep and moan, you evil shepherds!
    Roll in the dust, you leaders of the flock!
The time of your slaughter has arrived;
    you will fall and shatter like a fragile vase.
35 You will find no place to hide;
    there will be no way to escape.
36 Listen to the frantic cries of the shepherds.
    The leaders of the flock are wailing in despair,
    for the Lord is ruining their pastures.
37 Peaceful meadows will be turned into a wasteland
    by the Lord’s fierce anger.
38 He has left his den like a strong lion seeking its prey,
    and their land will be made desolate
by the sword of the enemy
    and the Lord’s fierce anger. (Jeremiah 25:34-38 NLT)

I’ve heard the Lord speak to me and direct me back to His Path. It may have been in a song, sermon, or silence. The Lord has convicted my heart many times of my sin. I am most definitely NOT perfect. The longer I walk with the Lord, the more amazed I am by His Grace. I have been on the receiving end of His Grace more times than I can count. It’s downright embarrassing when I think of how good He is to me and then I ignore His tug on my heart.

I’m am so thankful that His Grace doesn’t have limits. I’m thankful that He made a way through His One and ONLY Son that we might have this grace. His Son was the final sacrifice needed for sin.  I’m so thankful that He didn’t drop the hammer on me even when I deserved it. His Grace is enough for me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
