Economy

Our economy is basically defined by our wealth regard the production and consumption of goods. The US Economy has been trying to recover for months now after a steep downturn. It’s interesting to turn on the news and get many different interpretations about our economy and where it’s headed and when. Economists are people who predict where the economy is headed based on various events that indicate to them certain human behaviors. The people of this country are somewhat predictable in behavior therefore economist uses this data to get to the “leading economic indicators”.

God’s economy is a good bit different. One day a rich young man who wanted to be part of the Jesus movement approached Jesus. He asked what one thing he needed to do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him to obey all the commands to which he quickly replied – “I’ve done that since I was a kid”. Then Jesus dropped the big bomb and said, “sell all you have and give to the poor, then you will have treasure in heaven”. This killed it. The young man had some wealth that brought a certain amount of status and respect in the community. Jesus further explained to His disciples that it’s hard for wealthy people to enter the Kingdom.  Check this out….

In God’s economy things are a good bit different. It’s not based on, “the person with the most toys win” mentality. God’s economy is opposite from our worldly economy. The world tells us to save and invest in making more money.

The Word tells to share our wealth and serve.

The world tells us the rich guys finish on top.

The Word tells that the greatest in God’s kingdom are the ones serving at the bottom.

The World tells to be first in line.

The Word tells to be last in line.

The more I research about God’s economy, the more I want to be part of that. I don’t want to “gain the whole world and lose my soul”. I want to use what I earn to serve Him. I want to be self-less instead of selfish. I want to be rich in spiritual values no matter how much or how little money I have in the bank.
