Dumb Decision

I searched online how many decisions we make in an average day and the number was 35,000! I’m not sure where that number comes from, but I do believe that the average person makes thousands of decisions per day. I think that averages just under 2,000 per hour if a person sleeps 6 hours. That is crazy! It’s pretty early and as I reflect on the time I’ve been up, I’ve made several decisions already. I sometimes wonder about my decision to make coffee – it feels pretty automated.

Isaiah was speaking on behalf of the Lord and calling the people of God out. They were making dumb decisions. Check this out….

What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help,
trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers
and depending on the strength of human armies
instead of looking to the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 31:1 NLT)

How many times have I tried to do things my own way instead of trusting the Lord?

How many times have I trusted in the counsel of someone else instead of trusting God’s counsel?

How many times have I listened my own selfish desires, instead of following the Lord?

I’ve made too many dumb decisions to count. I remember making at least one good decision and that is to trust the Lord with my whole heart. I remember the first time I trusted Him. I’m reminded today that trust Him is a daily – evenly hourly experience. He can get crowded out of my thoughts when I have to make so many decisions. Wise decisions are made when I decide to trust Him to lead me to the right choice.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
