Dressed For Success
I don’t consider myself a flashy or fancy dresser. I do iron my shirts and pants each day and try to present myself as professional. I am up early with a quick shave and shower each morning. I like to start my day with gratitude deep in my heart for all that the Lord has blessed me with. I also like to dress for the occasion. If I’m going to a wedding, I’m going to dress nicer than if I’m planning to work in the yard. The church I’m part of encourages people to come to worship as they are. I like to think of the value of dressing up my heart for being in the presence of God rather than dressing up my body. I like to say that I go to church in blue-jeans with my heart dressed in a tuxedo.
When I’m getting dressed, I often think of putting on righteousness much like I’m putting on a shirt or pants. I can only clothe myself with righteousness because of what the Lord has done for me, inside me and to me. I am thankful for His invasion of my soul. He has clothed me from within and without. Check this out….
10 I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God!
For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation
and draped me in a robe of righteousness.
I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding
or a bride with her jewels.
11 The Sovereign Lord will show his justice to the nations of the world.
Everyone will praise him!
His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring,
with plants springing up everywhere. (Isaiah 61:10-11 NLT)
I am nothing without Him in my heart. With Him inside me, I can display His characteristics with my life and I can be a huge blessing to others. Because He has clothed me with salvation and robed me in righteousness, I can hear hurting people more clearly. I can also see things that I couldn’t see before. . The most important part of getting dressed for my day is the time I spend reading and hearing from the Lord in His Word. He speaks things into my heart that I’m not sure I would hear any other way or at any other time in my day. I want my heart to be dressed with His Presence in me.
Pressing On!
