Declaration
I have made my share of declarations over the years. I don’t consider myself a powerful person, so my declarations don’t necessarily impact a lot of people. I don’t even know who all reads the things I write here or pays any attention to my life. I do know that the Lord has called me to make Him known. I have declared my commitment to Him many times over.
I’m reading this morning about a question that Jesus asked His followers and so I asked myself the question too. Check this out…
27 Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages near Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets.”
29 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”
Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.”
30 But Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him. (Mark 8:27-30 NLT)
Asking the right question can bring great clarity. That’s my word of the new year. Today is the first day of 2022 and I want to declare that I believe in Jesus. I believe He is the One and only Son of God. I believe He came and walked this earth and lived without sin as a human to become the sacrifice for all sin. I don’t quite comprehend His amazing love, but I’m so thankful to be a recipient of His Love.
I may ask people who I am.
I may ask people who they are.
I’m aware of who some people “think” they are.
I want to be known simply as a follower of Jesus. I want to be humble and kind, but incredibly knowledgeable and professional in my everyday life. I don’t want to be impressive as much as I want to impress upon others the joy and peace that comes in following Jesus.
Pressing On!
