Dark Day
I’m excited that the days are getting a bit longer as each day goes by. We are headed toward Springtime here in Georgia. The dark days of winter have always been harder for me because the weather is cold and dark. The reality is that the days not long, but they are really not darker. The moon still cycles through its phases in the winter. I think one of the reasons the winter seems dark is the lack of life in most vegetation. Lots of our vegetation is dormant during the winter.
The people of Israel had some dark days coming. They had brought these on themselves as they lived such rebellious and unscrupulous lifestyles in the face of God Who had saved them and claimed them as His chosen people. They ignored God’s call upon their lives. Check this out…
25 Terror and trembling will overcome my people.
They will look for peace but not find it.
26 Calamity will follow calamity;
rumor will follow rumor.
They will look in vain
for a vision from the prophets.
They will receive no teaching from the priests
and no counsel from the leaders. (Ezekiel 7:25-26 NLT)
I want to run to the Light of the Word on dark days.
I want to listen to the Word of God even on dark days.
I want to lean into my faith on dark days.
I want to keep putting one foot in front of the other on dark days.
I am so thankful for Jesus coming to bring Light even in the darkest of days. When Jesus came, He brought grace, forgiveness, healing and hope. The darkest days that I face in winter are not as hard to navigate with the Presence of Jesus.
I can’t imagine how some people navigate suffering and struggle without Jesus.
I can’t imagine how people navigate the valley of grief without Jesus.
I need Him every day, but I’m especially grateful for His Presence on dark days. He illuminates the darkest day. When He enters the room, Hope comes with Him.
Pressing On!
