Cry Out To God
I have been a follower of God for most of my life. I accepted Jesus, God’s One and Only into my heart when I was in 3rdgrade. I was very young, but I believed in God. I’ve stumbled badly along my journey of faith. I don’t EVER want to appear as someone who “has it all together” because I’m simply a sinner seeking the Heart of The Father every day. The more I trust in Him, the more I can rest in Him. The more I trust in Him the less stressed I get over all that is going on in the world around me.
Trust is a bid deal to the Lord. The word “TRUST” carries with it “reliance and confidence”. I’ve learned in my journey with the Lord to trust Him more. I’ve learned that He is dependable.
I’m reading through 1 Chronicles and it’s heavy on the genealogies. There was a simple little event that happened in describing the tribes that settled east of the Jordan. This involves the Reuban, Gad and the ½ Tribe of Manassah. Check this out…
18 There were 44,760 capable warriors in the armies of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They were all skilled in combat and armed with shields, swords, and bows. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, the Jeturites, the Naphishites, and the Nodabites. 20 They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated. (1 Chronicles 5:18-20 NLT)
They cried out to God during the battle. I think it’s wise to cry out to God “before, during and after” any battle. I am learning to cry out to the Lord to PREPARE for battle. My battles are not against people I can see and touch, it’s against the enemy who tries to destroy me from the inside out. There are battles that I’ve been through that are visible to the outside world. The battle plan is ALWAYS the same – Cry out to God!
This reminded me of a song by a Christian Band named Third Day called Cry Out To Jesus. These lyrics are very powerful.
To everyone who’s lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
When you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there’s nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
And love for the broken heart
And there is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He’ll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus
For the marriage that’s struggling just to hang on
They’ve lost all of their faith in love
And they’ve done all they can to make it right again, still it’s not enough
For the ones who can’t break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you’re not alone in your shame
And your suffering
When you’re lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
To the widow who suffers from being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
And for the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight
When Jesus came to earth and lived a perfect life, He introduced the Hope that comes with the Presence of God in the midst of any battle. I will Cry Out To Jesus – He is the only reinforcement that I need in the battles I find myself in the middle of. I trust Him without reservation.
Pressing On!
