Control
I don’t consider myself a “control freak”, but there are faces of people I know that come to mind when I use those two words together. A “control freak” is someone who is “over the top” when it comes to control. They don’t allow others to think or do for themselves. Control freaks are usually fine, IF they are in control. The last time I checked, I don’t control the weather. I don’t control accidents. I’ve learned over the years that I don’t have a lot of control over most environments, people, places or situations that I find myself in. I’m even learning that my response should be under the control of the Spirit inside me! Check this out…
9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:9-11 NLT)
I’m still learning to ask the Lord about everything BEFORE I do anything.
I’m still learning that the choices I make should reflect His Presence in me.
He has saved me and I wear His Name so I should have a “Spirit perspective” on every situation that I find myself in.
I do realize that some things seem so trivial, but I believe the Lord works in the trivial as well as the monumental situations I face. I need His Wisdom. I need His discernment. I need His counsel. I need His guidance.
I’m thankful every hour of every day for His Presence in me. He calms my soul. He brings peace. He loves me big.
Pressing On!
