This is a person who provides expert advice due to their experience and/or education. I’ve known people who retired from a company and then get asked to come back in a consultant role to give guidance and direction. The advice from a consultant is to help avoid many “rookie” mistakes that are easy to make along the way. The Lord is the Ultimate Consultant in any area of life. and you looked in that day
to the weapons in the Palace of the Forest.
9 You saw that the walls of the City of David
were broken through in many places;
you stored up water
in the Lower Pool.
10 You counted the buildings in Jerusalem
and tore down houses to strengthen the wall.
11 You built a reservoir between the two walls
for the water of the Old Pool,
but you did not look to the One who made it,
or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.
12 The Lord, the Lord Almighty,
called you on that day

It is not wise to hire a consultant only to ignore his advice or counsel. I’m guilty too often of ignoring the counsel that the Lord gives me. He leads me if I’ll listen. He points the way if I’m paying attention. He gives me great counsel if I have the courage to trust Him. I trust the Lord to direct my path through this life after all He is the One Who created my life and the world that I live in.
