Confidence
I haven’t always been a confident person. I used to worry what people thought of me. I used to try to please everyone. I’ve learned that no matter how hard I try to live to please everyone, it just won’t happen. There are some people who make up their mind about me based on the position I’m in or a decision that I made. (They often don’t understand the weight of the decision or the weight of my position.) I’ve had to learn to be good with that. If I’m going to serve in leadership, there will be criticism that simply comes with it.
I was reminded this morning that walking in truth gives me confidence that is not from me. The confidence that I can display comes from knowing the Lord and living for Him. Paul writes a letter to Titus (one of his protégé’s) and he encourages confidence because of our eternal hope. Check this out….
1This letter is from Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I have been sent to proclaim faith to those God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives. 2 This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began. 3 And now at just the right time he has revealed this message, which we announce to everyone. It is by the command of God our Savior that I have been entrusted with this work for him. (Titus 1:1-3 NLT)
I can face life’s curves and hardships because I have confidence in God.
I can face suffering and trials because I have confidence in God.
He has saved me. He walks with me. He talks with me. My confidence comes from Him.
I don’t need to worry.
I don’t need to fret.
I don’t need to stress about this life because He’s promised eternal life which is way better and beyond this life. I can live boldly and confidently before the Lord and in serving others because there is a hope inside me that drives me and directs my path.
Pressing On!
