Complete Destruction
When I was a kid there was a tornado that came within a few miles of our house in Kentucky. It had destroyed homes in its path and it swept through a small town and pretty much removed the little town off the map. It was hard to believe that the destruction of those houses came from high winds. The power of a tornado or hurricane is hard for me to wrap my head around.
As I read in Jeremiah where the Lord brought about the destruction of Moab, it’s hard to imagine this happening. The Lord brought about total destruction to Moab because of their wicked behavior and willful disobedience. Check this out…
39 “How shattered she is! How they wail!
How Moab turns her back in shame!
Moab has become an object of ridicule,
an object of horror to all those around her.”
40 This is what the Lord says:
“Look! An eagle is swooping down,
spreading its wings over Moab.
41 Kerioth will be captured
and the strongholds taken.
In that day the hearts of Moab’s warriors
will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
42 Moab will be destroyed as a nation
because she defied the Lord. (Jeremiah 48:39-42 NIV)
I’m so thankful that the Lord introduced me to Grace. Except for His Grace, I would deserve total destruction. He has made a way through His Son to erase my past and provide for me a bright forever future. I’m thankful to know Him. I’m so glad my parents introduced me to the Lord. I want to live my life in obedience to Him and His call upon my heart. I want to be the opposite of total destruction – I want to be well constructed and strong. I want to be able to withstand the destructive, hurricane force winds of the evil one. I will hold tight to the Lord at ALL TIMES.
Pressing On!
