Commitment & Contentment

These are two words that are really pretty connected. Contentment often follow commitment. Commitment is sometimes tough. The road of commitment is sometimes lonely as others toss their commitment aside and go with what they want immediately. Commitment takes deep thought and presence of mind to stay focused on the end game.

The Lord is the supreme example of commitment. Check this out…

 13 The Lord says,

“The time is coming when there will be all kinds of food.


People will still be harvesting crops


    when it’s time to plow again.


People will still be taking the juice from grapes


    when it’s time to plant again.
Wine will drip from the mountains


    and pour from the hills.

14 I will bring my people Israel back from captivity;


    they will build the ruined cities again,


    and they will live in them.


They will plant vineyards and drink the wine from them;


    they will plant gardens and eat their fruit.

15 I will plant my people on their land,


    and they will not be pulled out again


    from the land which I have given them,”


    says the Lord your God. (Amos 9:13-15 NCV)

The Lord takes His commitments and His promises very seriously. He keeps His Word and doesn’t back down. I believe that the Lord loves it and loves us deeply when we keep our commitments and promises to Him.

He has the power to bless – to restore – to rebuild – to remake. He has unlimited resources and means. He has no limits to His creativity. There are no limits to His control – yet He exhibits great self-control as we dishonor Him. I want my commitment and my contentment in Him to grow deeper and deeper with every passing day!
