Cloud Leadership
I have been a follower of Jesus since I can remember. I’ve had my seasons where I was closer in my walk with Him than others. I’ve learned the last several years about the importance of being consistent and steady in following Him. I am tempted like any other person to be selfish and self-serving, but I fight the urge. My flesh is very real, and I struggle with sin just like anyone else. I am learning that the more consistent I become in following the Lord, it’s easier to spot the schemes of the enemy to take me down. My daily journey in the Word of God reinforces my faith and actually helps my faith to grow and improve.
This morning I was in the book of Numbers and the cloud leadership of God for the young nation of Israel was explained. Check this out….
15 On the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered it. But from evening until morning the cloud over the Tabernacle looked like a pillar of fire. 16 This was the regular pattern—at night the cloud that covered the Tabernacle had the appearance of fire. 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp. 18 In this way, they traveled and camped at the Lord’s command wherever he told them to go. Then they remained in their camp as long as the cloud stayed over the Tabernacle. (Numbers 9:15-18 NLT)
I love this “cloud leadership” -which is really God leading when He’s ready for His people to move. The people of Israel had been at the base of Mt. Sinai for about a year before they started their journey to the land promised them by God. There was much word being done in forming this new nation. An important component to this preparation was when do we move camp and where do we go. The Lord instructed Moses and all the people that when the cloud moved, they were to move.
I was reminded that my “moves” should depend upon the Lord.
I’ve lived in the same house for 24 years. My house is not huge, but it’s big enough. I have explored other options, but the Lord has not nudged me to move. I want to walk in step with Him so that I see His signs for me to act and do. I see clouds all the time, but the Lord will nudge my heart when He wants me to act upon something. I’ll admit, that I’ve missed His nudging because I was paying more attention to me than to Him. I have a level of contentment when I’m trusting the Lord’s leadership in my life. He doesn’t use a cloud, but He certainly directs my path when I’m calm and still enough to listen to His instructions.
There is peace in following the Lord.
There is confidence in following the Lord.
There is blessing in following the Lord.
Pressing On!
