Children

ChildrenI have thoroughly enjoyed being a parent. In 1986 I became a Dad for the first time. I knew very little about being a Dad, but I learned quickly. When children are small they depend on their parents for pretty much everything. They don’t even have to leave what they are doing to go to the bathroom!  When children are babies, they pretty much eat and sleep and maybe move around. They are precious beyond words – a gift of life.

As my children grew, I continued to teach them.  They probably learned more by just by walking through life with me and checking my words against my actions.  I read or heard someone say: “Values are caught NOT taught”!  I believe that to be true.  I also know that children are much more teachable than adults. They are receptive to instructions and directions. Jesus loved children and actually spoke some truth that I need to hear again. Check this out….

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 19:13-16 NIV)

My faith needs to be more like a child than an adult. Jesus loves the simple surrender that children come with. Children are pure and trusting. Children are patient and so innocent.  As a Dad, I’m a protector, provider and leader for my family. Jesus loves children and challenges me to become one. If I want to enter heaven, I need to become His kid. I need to be pure and trusting of my Heavenly Father. I need to trust Him to direct my path and to be my protector and provider. I will surrender to His ways and allow Him to provide for me and protect me. He’s an incredible Father and I need to catch His values and live by them!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
