Changed Mind

I remember learning at a very young age that “it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind”. I’m not sure where that came from, but in my Real Estate career, I see buyers and sellers change their minds often. There are times that changing of the mind can save lots of grief. There are other times when changing of the minds can cause lots of grief. One of my favorite podcasts is The Brian Buffini Show. Brian founded and is the chairman of the largest business coaching company in the US. He did an episode called “The Power of A Made Up Mind”.

I believe in God The Father

I believe in Jesus Christ.

I believe in the Holy Spirit.

And He’s given us new life!

Ibelieve in the crucifixion!

I believe that He conquered death!

I believe in the resurrection!

And He’s comin’ back again! (*”We Believe” by The Newsboys)

The people of Judah and Israel were tasked with freeing their slaves. In fact, they were to free their slaves after 6 years of service. This dated back to when they were slaves in Egypt. They ignored this rule. Check this out…..

This message came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah made a covenant with the people, proclaiming freedom for the slaves. He had ordered all the people to free their Hebrew slaves—both men and women. No one was to keep a fellow Judean in bondage. 10 The officials and all the people had obeyed the king’s command, 11 but later they changed their minds. They took back the men and women they had freed, forcing them to be slaves again. (Jeremiah 34:8-11 NLT)

A commitment requires a made-up mind.

My faith in God requires a made-up mind.

I will be the first to confess that I’ve changed my mind before and surrendered to temptation to sin. I am embarrassed every time this happens. It’s in the shameful and embarrassed moments that Grace has become my favorite song. The Lord loves a repentant heart. The Lord loves it when I return to my deep faith in Him. The Lord is so patient as I surrender to Him again and again.

My faith in the Lord is not negotiable. I’ve made up my mind that I’m living the rest of my days for His honor and His glory. I will not change my mind on this. I believe in eternity and I believe that there is a heaven and there is a hell. I want to enjoy eternity with those who’ve gone before me who’ve trusted the Lord with their lives here on earth.  I might change my mind about where I have lunch today, but I’m not changing my mind on what I believe about God because I’ve experienced His Grace and His love first hand.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
