Changed Heart
I had good friend who was re-introduced to the Lord and his heart was changed. He was so different than the person he had been before. There is a real difference in someone who has a relationship with the church and a person who has met Jesus personally and trusts Him with everything. This friend was more kind, generous and loving. Not long after this transformation, he passed away suddenly with a heart attack. While God had forever transformed his heart and soul – his physical heart was still in bad health.
I believe that who I am as a person comes from my heart. I surrendered my heart to the Lord years ago, but it is really a daily experience NOT just a one-time event. I believe that I’m forever different when I continually surrender my heart to the Lord.
I enjoyed walking through the story of Saul becoming king. He was not expecting an event like this at all. Samuel the prophet told him what was about to happen and it happened just like he said. Saul’s future was about to change quickly. Check this out…
6 The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. 7 Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.
8 ‘Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will surely come down to you to sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come to you and tell you what you are to do.’
9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day. (1 Samuel 10:6-9 NIV)
No matter how hard I try, I can’t change my heart like The Lord can change my heart. He removes my bitterness and fills my heart with love and forgiveness. He takes out my anger and gives me peace. His Presence in my heart changes every part of my life. I am profoundly different because The Lord rules and reigns inside my soul.
I was reminded of this line in a song by Kari Jobe, called: “Always Enough”. The bridge says: “If I have You, I have EVERYTHING but without You, I am nothing.” That pretty much sums it up. Saul without God in his heart is just another man, but with the Lord in his heart, He can be king. I want to the Lord to continually stay inside my heart and help me serve others and lead others for His Kingdom’s benefit.
Pressing On!
