Break-Through
There are times that I’ve felt stuck. It seems that anything I do just stops short of really working out well. Then the break-through comes and things take off. I am so thankful for “break-throughs” over the years. I know that the break-through don’t always come on my time schedule, but they do come. I remember times when it seemed I couldn’t catch a break, let alone have a “break-through”. Sometimes the walls are imaginary, but they are still walls.
David is now anointed king over Israel. He was 30 years old when he became king of Judah and then he reined over all Israel for 40 years. The neighboring Philistines heard about David being anointed king and they set out in force to capture Him. David seems to always seek the Lord on battle decisions. Check this out….
17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he went into the stronghold. 18 The Philistines arrived and spread out across the valley of Rephaim. 19 So David asked the Lord, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”
The Lord replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.”
20 So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “The Lord did it!” David exclaimed. “He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). (2 Samuel 5:17-20 NLT)
I love David’s description of what happened. He totally gave the Lord credit for saving them. He didn’t claim credit for what God had done. This is a good lesson for me. I am nothing without the Lord in me. He is the Source of everything good I am able to do.
I need to give the Lord more credit for all that He is doing in me and through me. He wants to live through me and serve through me. He wants to lead through me and bless through me. I want to be His Hands and His Feet. I want a breakthrough with the Lord each morning as I begin my day. I want to be stronger and deeper in my trust of Him. I love looking back and seeing the Hand of the Lord in my life. Break-throughs have made it possible to grow to a whole new level with the Lord.
Pressing On!
