Bragger

There are people who will always “one up” me. If I tell a really cool story about how I was able to do something amazing, they will have a better story than mine. When faced with this situation, I usually try to “stand down” and let them win. There are people who brag about everything like how much money they make or how much they paid for something. I’m not a fan of people who do this. I’ve learned over the years that when someone is a bragger or boasts a lot, they are quite insecure. I believe that the Lord hates bragging because the person doing the bragging is stealing the credit due to the Lord. Check this out….

23 This is what the Lord says:

“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom

    or the strong boast of their strength

    or the rich boast of their riches,

24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:

    that they have the understanding to know me,

that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,

    justice and righteousness on earth,

    for in these I delight,”

declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 9:23-24 NIV)

I will brag about the Lord every chance I get. His Presence blesses my life. He leads me. He directs me. He calms me down when I need it. I will not boast that I’m anything without Him. However, with His Presence in me I can be strong in the face of any storm. I really want to know the Lord more and more every day. I want to understand His thinking. I am already aware of His amazing grace and His kindness. He is also full of grace and mercy. If I feel the need to boast or brag, I will brag about the kindness of God; the grace of God; the strength He displays.
