Astonished!
I love this word because it’s a “relative” to the word surprised. I just imagine when some is astonished or surprise they have this look on their face. I’ve actually seen that look before and I’ve actually displayed that look. As a Dad I love it when my children astonish me with good surprises. I don’t like being astonished with bad surprises – like a call from the school reporting misbehavior. I do like getting surprise compliments regarding good behavior!
I was reading the story this morning about how a man “astonished Jesus” with his faith. Check this out….
5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” 7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” 8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment. (Matthew 8:5-10;13 NIV)I want my faith to astonish Jesus! I want Him to be so blessed by my deep faith in Him. I was just thanking Him again this morning for the fact that my son Jeremy is still cancer free! The Lord – His Power, His Presence, His Love, His Grace, His Mercy, constantly astonishes me – I could go on and on. He is always surprising me; I want to astonish Him with my consistent faith in Him!
Pressing On! Dwayne
