Action
This word is about doing something. A person who takes some action is not passive. I have been through seasons where I wasn’t as active as at other seasons of my life. I am learning that putting activities off doesn’t really help. I need to take action when it’s called for. I have never been called lazy, but I know how to be lazy. My parents taught me that laziness was ungodly and should be avoided. I’ve met lazy people and they really make me tired. I don’t see Jesus as lazy. I see Him as a person Who lived life on purpose and on time. John tells that me that I can’t just talk about my faith, I must show my faith by my actions. Check this out….
18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. 19 Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. 20 Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. (1 John 3:18-20 NLT)
“What you do speaks so loudly, that I can’t hear what you’re saying” – I heard this quote many years ago and it still resonates with me today. My actions reveal what I really believe. Talk is cheap, but actions are very valuable. I can say I love someone, but my actions reveal the truth. I can say that I love the Lord, but my actions reveal if it’s really true. I can say I want to lose weight and get healthy, but my actions reveal if it’s true of false. I can say I believe in God, and my actions will confirm or deny that statement.
I want the activities and actions throughout every day of my life to reveal a deep and abiding faith in the God Who created me and wired me to honor Him and worship Him. My actions actually prove or disprove what I say I believe. I’m thankful for His Grace as He covers and forgives my weak moments of action or inaction. My faith is not all about doing – it’s about resting and residing in Him. He took the Ultimate Action when His Son became the Ultimate Sacrifice for sin.
Pressing On!
