A Splash
There are times in marketing when a “big splash” is needed. This could be a huge event that would grab lots of attention or it could be big “door to door” campaign. In my business, I recently tried to make a big splash as I introduced my new team into the real estate market.
Jesus had been avoiding a lot of attention-getting activities. In fact, after He performed healing, He would ask the person healed to not tell anyone. As His final Passover week begins, a splash is made on more than one occasion. Check this out…
8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,
“Praise God for the Son of David!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Praise God in highest heaven!”
10 The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
11 And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” (Matthew 21:8-11 NLT)
Jesus was no longer “a secret”. He fulfilled prophesy by entering the city of Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt. He created quite a stir because there were people expecting Him to ride in on a white horse to begin a revolt to overthrow Rome’s rule and occupation of their Jewish land. He surprised them by riding in on a donkey’s colt – in humility. He was received as a king, but He wasn’t the king that many wanted.
Jesus allowed the triumphal entry.
Jesus participated in the big splash.
His agenda would soon be obvious to the world as He introduced a “bottom-up kingdom”. His disciples, who had been with Him the past three years were still struggling to understand the kind of Kingdom He was introducing. It is still a struggle for many of us humans to understand His Kingdom even today. When we become popular or lead a lot of people to the Lord, it is a struggle to keep it clear that it’s “bottom-up”. The greatest here is to become the servant of all. The “CEO” washed feet and served others. He calls us to a life of service from the bottom up. He will do the promotions at the end in this “bottom-up kingdom”. Serving others is the secret to “success” in His Kingdom. I believe I can make a “splash” every day by simply serving in His name!
Pressing On!
