God’s Choice
I sometimes behave like I have lots of choices that are really not mine. I am profoundly blessed with the Lord’s Presence in me. I really do want to walk and talk with Him living in me and I want my daily choices to reflect His Presence in me. I also pray for God’s favor upon me and my life. I want to point others to Him – His Presence is my Source of Peace. He steady’s my feet.
I do believe that I don’t get to choose how long I live on this earth. That is more in the Lord’s wheelhouse. I do get to choose how to respond to the Lord while I’m here. God’s choices for me are often hard to comprehend or understand, but I trust Him. I don’t always like His choices for me, but I respect and honor Him as the Lord of my life.
The people of Israel had been grumbling about Moses and Aaron’s leadership. These two had been appointed/chosen by God to lead the people of Israel. After the rebellion of Korah, the Lord decided to make a statement to all the leaders of the nation so that they could all see His choice. Check this out….
1Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the people of Israel to bring you twelve wooden staffs, one from each leader of Israel’s ancestral tribes, and inscribe each leader’s name on his staff. 3 Inscribe Aaron’s name on the staff of the tribe of Levi, for there must be one staff for the leader of each ancestral tribe. 4 Place these staffs in the Tabernacle in front of the Ark containing the tablets of the Covenant, where I meet with you. 5 Buds will sprout on the staff belonging to the man I choose. Then I will finally put an end to the people’s murmuring and complaining against you.”
6 So Moses gave the instructions to the people of Israel, and each of the twelve tribal leaders, including Aaron, brought Moses a staff. 7 Moses placed the staffs in the Lord’s presence in the Tabernacle of the Covenant. 8 When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds! (Numbers 17:1-8 NLT)
God made His choice clear with a miracle. For a tree to grow to produce almonds, it would take five or more years. The Lord made Aaron’s staff (aka rod or stick) produce ripe almonds literally overnight. The Lord wanted the leaders and all the people of Israel to know who His choice was to lead.
I was reminded to always seek to know God’s choice in every situation. I want to walk with Him and talk with Him in a way that His choice is obvious to me. I must be very intentional in my listening to the Lord. I must intentional is responding to Him as He leads me. Moses and Aaron were following God first and leading the people of Israel out of that choice from God. I would be wise to walk consistently with the Lord and carefully pay close attention to His choices for my life and this world I’m in but not of.
Pressing On!
