Smells Good

I love going to a bakery and smelling some of the baked goods or a candy shop and smell fresh fudge being made. I also love the smell of a steak or burger on the grill. I love to smell fresh flowers and the fragrance of spring. My attitude is sometimes lifted by a pleasing smell. The opposite is true as well – when I smell something putrid, it deflates me a bit for sure.

The Lord gave specific instructions to His people when they were first freed from Egypt. He gave specific instructions for the place where they would worship Him. He also gave specific instructions about the priesthood and procedures of worship. I noticed the Lord loved good smelling stuff as well. Check this out….

42 “These burnt offerings are to be made each day from generation to generation. Offer them in the Lord’s presence at the Tabernacle entrance; there I will meet with you and speak with you. 43 I will meet the people of Israel there, in the place made holy by my glorious presence. 44 Yes, I will consecrate the Tabernacle and the altar, and I will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests. 45 Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God, 46 and they will know that I am the Lord their God. I am the one who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the Lord their God. (Exodus 29:42-46 NLT)

I want my life to be a sweet-smelling fragrance to the Lord.

I want the small choices that I make today to smell good to the Lord.

My surrender, obedience and submission before the Lord delights Him. He can work with and through a surrendered heart. He can do much more through me than I can do in my own skills and my own ideas.

I want my prayers and the desires of my heart to be a sweet-smelling fragrance to Him. This reminded me of a song recorded by Matt Redman called: “The Prayers of the Saints” I want the songs I sing, the prayers I pray and the way I talk to others to reflect my heart for the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
