Restore

When I hear the word restore, I think of returning an old house or building back to its original design and look. I love to see old houses restored properly to their original condition.  It is actually pretty expensive to replace the older parts with parts that look that old.  In other words, single pane windows are hard to find and they are more expensive. In that case restoring would be expensive and would not be “energy efficient”.   The Psalmist penned a word about the people of Israel being restored. Check this out…

1 When the Lord brought the prisoners back to Jerusalem,

       it seemed as if we were dreaming.

 2 Then we were filled with laughter,

       and we sang happy songs.

    Then the other nations said,

       “The Lord has done great things for them.”

 3 The Lord has done great things for us,

       and we are very glad.

 4 Lord, return our prisoners again,

       as you bring streams to the desert.

 5 Those who cry as they plant crops

       will sing at harvest time.

 6 Those who cry

       as they carry out the seeds

    will return singing

       and carrying bundles of grain. (Psalm 126:1-6 NCV)

There are times in my life when I feel like I’ve been a prisoner to sin. There have been times that I feel as if I’ve turned my back on the Lord and ignored Him. He can’t co-exist with sin. He is always ready and willing to remove my sin and restore my soul to mint condition.  He is the only one who can do that work. He restores my soul and rekindles in me a desire to follow Him and honor Him with my daily decisions. He brings water to my thirsty soul. He brings a harvest to the seeds I’ve sown.  He is the Ultimate Restoration Specialist!
