Record Keeping

Keeping good records is important for business owners in nearly every type of business. My firm is required to keeps records of contracts and transactions for three years. It is recommended to keep business records for 7 years. Finding a good place to store the records is critical. I must confess that I need to improve on the storage part. I came across Psalm 130 and it really spoke to me about God’s record keeping. Check this out….

 Lord, if you kept a record of our sins,
    who, O Lord, could ever survive?
But you offer forgiveness,
    that we might learn to fear you.

I am counting on the Lord;
    yes, I am counting on him.
    I have put my hope in his word.
I long for the Lord
    more than sentries long for the dawn,
    yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
    for with the Lord there is unfailing love.
    His redemption overflows.(Psalm 130:3-7 NLT)

I used to think that when I got to heaven that God had a record of all the things I had done wrong and they were written down in a book. I’m not sure where that idea came from, but I’m thankful that it isn’t true. I think the only thing that matters when I stand before the Lord is, do I know Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus is the One and ONLY Son of God. I am thankful that He came and demonstrated the love and the mercy of God. Jesus revealed to us the heart of God. I am thankful for His unfailing love. His love appears reckless to me. I don’t deserve it. I can’t earn it, yet He loves me anyway. I haven’t forgotten some of my sins that He’s forgiven me for. He has removed the sins from me, but I still remember a lot of the stupid things I’ve done. I’ve embarrassed the Lord, but His love eradicates my sin.

The only record keeping that God is doing is keeping up with those who have accepted His Son Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  I’m super thankful for that.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
