Less Stressed
I am still learning to handle stress and not let it affect every other relationship. It’s not my wife’s fault that things at work can be stressful, so why should she be affected. I know that she will listen if I need to talk about it. I also know that she wants to help bear any burden that I might have. I used to show my stress in the form of quick temper and little patience with the kiddos at home. I know that people who know me would think that I don’t have a “short fuse”, but I used too. I have learned over the years to chill out and not over react to situations that frustrate me. I’ve learned that my emotions can cloud my minds ability to navigate stressful situations. I have learned the value of taking a step back and calming down before responding in anger and frustration.
The Psalmist was really working on management of emotion toward evil and wicked people. I can relate to his prayer. Check this out….
1 I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
2 I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
in my own home. (Psalm 101:1-2 NLT)
Those who know me very well (my wife, children and siblings) have seen the good, the bad and the ugly side of my personality. They have also seen the good side of me as well. I am still growing in my faith. I am still learning to trust the Lord and allow Him to transform my personality to be full of love and grace toward everyone I meet. I’m even learning to respond kindly to people who are acting like a jerk or an idiot. With the Lord’s help, I will continue to grow and expand my love and kindness to others. I want to continue to expand my love and kindness to those closest to me. I’m so thankful to the Lord for dwelling in my soul, because He gives me peace in the midst of stress. He helps me navigate stressful situations with His Grace and His Peace. I want to be a leader who is calm, collected and discerning because the Lord provides a peace that is hard to explain, but He is an amazing Helper at all times and I’m thankful for His Patience with me over the years.
Pressing On!
