Foolish

I am fully aware of some of the foolish things I’ve done in the past. I’m thankful that the “cobwebs” of my mind keep me from remember all of them! I often look back with regret at things I’ve said or done without giving much thought to the “fallout” or damage done to people I care about. My emotion will run wild, if given the chance. It can come out in anger at someone or something. It can also come out as celebration or victory at someone else’s expense. I’ve learned a lot from my past mistakes. If I don’t learn from them, I’m doomed to repeat them for sure.

This morning as I read one of David’s Psalms, I realized that I am not that foolish because I’m seeking the Lord every day. There are those who do not trust the Lord at all. There are also those who say they love God, but their lifestyle denies Him. I really want to be wise every day and seek His heart. Check this out…

    “There is no God.”

he looks to see if anyone is truly wise,

I struggle with foolish choices even though I’ve made the most important one – choosing to seek God. I still act without seeking Him and that is a foolish move on my part. I believe that I should seek Him in EVERYTHING, not just the big stuff. I believe that allowing His Spirit to prompt me and guide me is the wisest thing I can do every day. I also try to start my day by welcoming His Wisdom from His Word into my heart. This can prepare me for my day, including unplanned appointments and an encounter with someone who is foolish or a possibly just being a jerk! (I probably should have said “difficult people”.) I believe the wisdom that God gives helps me show restraint and patience with foolish people. There are times that the Lord allows me to see them as He sees them. The arrogant guy who is going off the rails, might be battling a deep personal issue. The flirtatious lady might be really struggling with her self-worth. Foolish people come in all shapes, sizes, socio-economic background, ages and nationalities. Foolish people ignore God and His Presence in our world. I want to live in wisdom that comes only from God, not that I could ever boast about being wise without Him. I want to shed light on what His Presence has brought into my life, because He longs to light up others’ lives as well.
