Belong
I remember a song that I used to love to hear and love to sing called: “Home Where I Belong”. B.J. Thomas performed the song. Now that takes me back a few years. The word that jumped in my lap this morning was, belong. I love having a place to belong too. I love having a family to belong too. I have friends, a church, and work place – lots of places to belong. The Psalmist is in a good place as he pens this song of praise. Check this out…
1 Shout to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Serve the Lord with joy; come before him with singing. 3 Know that the Lord is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep he tends. 4 Come into his city with songs of thanksgiving and into his courtyards with songs of praise. Thank him and praise his name. 5 The Lord is good. His love is forever, and his loyalty goes on and on. (Psalm 100:1-5 NCV)While I have others places and among other people to belong, the number one place I belong is His Presence. My place in all of this life is with Him. The more I know Him, the more I want to declare Who He is. I want to shout it; sing it; thank Him; praise Him. He is an amazing Friend like no other friend. I find serious comfort belonging to Him. I should not worry or stress – He’s leading my life. I belong to Him, period.
As I rest in that, praise and worship comes out. I can’t help singing and saying praise to Him. My response to belonging is praise, worship and honor to Whom I belong!
