Obedience Protocol

The Lord still speaks through His Word straight to me. I’m not always an avid listener. He also speaks through circumstances, songs on the radio, other people and a ton of other ways. My spiritual hearing needs to improve. There have been times when I feel like the Lord needs a 2X4 to smack me over the head to get my attention.

Joshua was on a conquest to take the Promised Land for his people. I like the fact that the Lord gives Joshua confidence to simply walk in obedience. I don’t see Joshua as a flashy leader. I don’t see him with a huge entourage, simply a man leading his people while being led himself by Creator God. Check this out….

15 As the Lord commanded his servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded Moses.

23 So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.(Joshua 11:15,23 NIV)

I’m not sure the time span of Joshua 11, but I was tired after reading all the kings and people that Joshua defeated. He was simply following the obedience protocol. The Lord said for him to do this and He did.

I could stand a dose of obedience protocol. I sometimes hear the Lord directing my path and I ignore Him or I enter debate with Him. (On a side note: I’m never going to win a debate with the Lord.) When the Lord speaks into my heart and my spirit, I would be wise to follow obedience protocol. He speaks & I obey. He says “Jump” and I say: “How high?”

Obedience protocol is the simplest instructions ever. I will say that my hearing is often dulled by the noise in my life. I really want my spiritual hearing to be keen so that I follow obedience protocol completely. I want to do everything the Lord directs me to do. I want to go where He says go.
