Clean

Clothes with detergent and washing powder in orange plastic basket isolated on whiteI must confess that while I’m not and “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Clean Freak” – I do like clean things. I like clean clothes, clean sheets, clean dishes, clean house, clean body – simply clean. The opposite of clean is dirty. While I don’t like dirty, I have learned to endure it or work through it.

The Lord was very concerned cleanliness in the camp of the Israelites. He wanted them to be clean and pure because He was dwelling among them. Check this out

1The Lord said to Moses, 2 ‘Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean because of a dead body. 3 Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so that they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.’ 4 The Israelites did so; they sent them outside the camp. They did just as the Lord had instructed Moses. (Numbers 5:1-4 NIV)

He was definitely speaking about ceremonially clean. The Lord wanted His people to take His boundaries seriously. He was dwelling among them and He wanted them to take Him seriously.

I believe that the Lord is concerned with my clean heart and mind today. He dwells inside me and He doesn’t want to share space with evil, decadent thoughts. He wants to live and work inside a heart that is filled with His Character and His Spirit. I believe that this is a daily battle. The enemy seems to push and pull me in so many directions to invade my heart with dirty and soiled ideas. The Lord wants to help me repel the enemy and his ideas.

I’m glad that I don’t have to leave town every time my heart becomes unclean. I’m very grateful for the Grace and Mercy of the Lord as He patiently cleans me up and restores my heart to be like His. I guess the Lord has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Desire) for my heart!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
