Beautiful Feet

Feet familyI’m not a “foot person”. I think feet are ugly for the most part. The only times I’ve every thought feet were cute were on my children when they were babies. If I think for a second about where all my feet have been – it grosses me out. I will speak for myself about my ugly feet, but I pretty much feel this way about all feet. My feet are stuck inside my shoes all day and they walk on some pretty dirty places. Please don’t misunderstand – I’m thankful to have feet. I use my feet for walking every day of my life. I take my feet for granted until I see someone who doesn’t have feet. I just don’t really think that they are the least bit attractive or cute. I read in Isaiah this morning that there are beautiful feet. Check this out…

7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
    who bring good tidings,
    who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
    ‘Your God reigns!’
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
    together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together,
    you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
    he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:7-10 NIV)

My feet have a job to do. They transport me to and from places. I can walk or run using my feet. I can deliver things to others by using my feet. I can be a messenger of hope and help. My feet make it possible for me to do many things. I don’t recall ever having been injured much where I couldn’t use my feet. I think I had crutches once – not fun at all.

Today I want to remember what an important job my feet do. If I bring the good news of what the Lord is doing then my feet are really beautiful. That is really weird to think about – but the Lord really loves those who carry His Word to others.

Pressing On!
Dwayne
