Search
One of my favorite parts of most websites is the “search bar”. I can type in a key word and find most anything inside the site. A new phrase that has become popular in our Internet world is “Google it”. I can search Google for nearly anything I want to know and I can find some sort of information on it. David pens a fantastic psalm about having the Lord do some searching on me. Check this out…
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:1-4;13-15;23-24 NIV)
The Lord made me so He knows me. He knows my thoughts. He sees the activity of my brain and how it translates into behavior. Nothing I can do, think or say is hidden from Him.
His search of my heart is more thorough than the alga rhythms of Google. His brain scan is more thorough than a CT scan. He searches me. He knows me. He is the Creator and Designer of me and He knows how I function. I’m learning that nothing is hidden from Him. We sing a song at church call “Search My Heart” by Hillsong United that makes this a prayer. It’s the prayer of my heart today.
