What If…
That little two-letter word “if” can drastically change the direction of a thought or sentence in the conversation. “If” is a conjunction for all the English majors out there. This little word has a ton of powerful usage placements in our language. Politicians use it for an “escape clause”. King David used this word to challenge his constituents to think about what things would be like without God’s Presence. Check this out….
1 If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say— 2 if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3 they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; 4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, 5 the raging waters would have swept us away. 6 Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. 7 We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:1-8 NIV)
I could sit here for hours doing “what if” scenarios. This passage reminded me that without God’s help, I wouldn’t be standing. I would have been “knocked down” by the events of my past that hurt me deeply. I am so thankful that the Lord was with me and still is with me. With His Presence in my life, I have a healthy confidence about whatever comes my way.
What IF I didn’t have the Lord early on in my life?
Where would I be now and what would I be doing IF I didn’t have the Lord?
I’m sticking with the Lord – He is my Friend, my Confidant, my Hero, my Savior. I simply don’t intend to ever leave or forsake Him. I know He has no intentions of leaving or forsaking me. I will face all the “what if’s” that comes my way with His help, direction and council.
Pressing On! Dwayne
