Off The Market

Engagement ringJune is a time when there are lots of weddings. It’s beautiful to see a bride and groom meeting for the wedding ceremony. I believe that marriage is a beautiful concept designed by God. Before the wedding, there is usually an engagement period and often an engagement ring is given to the bride-to-be. That ring on her finger says that she is “off the market”. She has given her heart to someone very special to her and she is pledged to become his wife.

I sometimes think it would be cool to have a ring that says I’m off the market to the enemy of God. I want him to know that my heart is taken. My heart belongs to the Lord. The issue is that I sometimes don’t act and look like God’s kid. I act more selfish and sinful and flirt with the enemy. I so want to honor God and keep my heart pure for Him. Check this out….

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2     Worship the Lord with gladness;

    come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.

    It is he who made us, and we are his;

    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving

    and his courts with praise;

    give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;

    his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:1-5 NIV)

I want to honor the Lord today and every day. He is God. He made me. I belong to Him. I wear His Name. I obey His voice. I follow His lead.

He is so faithful and He is so kind. His love and His mercy are beyond describing. He stands by me when I don’t deserve His Presence. He so wants to hear my heart sing of His love. He loves it when I put Him in His proper place. He loves it when I have a godly perspective of Who He is and all that He has done and is doing. I will praise Him today for reminding me that I’m “off the market” – my heart is His!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
