My Defense
A good attorney is a valuable friend and confidant to have when someone comes after you in a lawsuit alleging all sorts of actions that you didn’t do. A good attorney prepares a defense and develops a strategy for defeating the person who is attacking.
Asaph reaches out to God to defend Israel against enemies on all sides. It’s not just a lawsuit, he’s asking for defense against a war of destruction. God is certainly big enough to fight and win in any and every situation. He is my defender. Check this out…
13 Make them like tumble-weed, my God, like chaff before the wind. 14 As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, 15 so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. 16 Cover their faces with shame, Lord, so that they will seek your name. 17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. 18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord – that you alone are the Most High over all the earth. (Psalm 83:13-18 NIV)
I need the Lord to defend me against the evil one and his wicked schemes. He wants to destroy me. He wants to hurt me. He wants to leave me hurting and helpless. But the Lord is my strength in any and every situation. He gives me strength to stand when I’m weak and weary. He gives me endurance to hold on and be strong. He gives me insight to the big picture so that I can live with His will and His way in mind.
