Repent

Man holding rock with bible verse John 8:7I have sinned. I could really write a book describing in great detail sin after sin that I’ve committed over the years. I am “straight up” a sinner who is saved by the Grace of God. I’m a saved sinner who needs God’s grace daily. I will say that I haven’t murdered anyone, but that really doesn’t make me less of a sinner than someone who has. Sin is sin even though the consequences are different. I am so thankful for the Grace of God because He has forgiven my sin. This morning I read David’s repentant writing. He was deeply repentant and broken before God. Check this out…

Have mercy on me, O God,

    according to your unfailing love;

according to your great compassion

    blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity

    and cleanse me from my sin.
9 Hide your face from my sins

    and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,

    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence

    or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation

    and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (Psalm 51:1-2;9-12 NIV)

I’m so thankful for David’s heart of repentance. I know my sin. I know the consequences of my sin. I know all of my secrets…the ones that God knows too. I am deeply embarrassed about my sinful actions and my sinful thoughts. God’s incredible grace is enough to forgive and remove my sin. David’s repentance pours out of these words and his honest repentance has helped millions of people like me to come to terms with their sin before God. This prayer of repentance is real. His prayer of repentance puts him in position for restoration by God. That is huge!

I’m so thankful for the forgiveness that the Lord gives. He forgives and then chooses to forget my sin. I’m both blessed and blown away by that level of love and mercy. I’m so very thankful!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
