Heart Condition
When I hear that a person has a “heart condition”, I become concerned. My heart is in the top two most vital organs in my body. My heart is that pumping organ (not the musical instrument!) that pushes blood throughout my body. Without my heart working, I won’t live. It is vital to my body functioning. I find it interesting that the Word speaks of us loving God with all our HEART, soul and strength. Our heart is not separate functioning vital organ, yet it is considered the emotional center of me. I’ve see people before and after Open Heart Surgery and they are different emotionally. My heart is most definitely connected with all of my life as well as all of my body. My passions are in my heart. My emotions come from my heart. Paul addresses heart issues with the Thessalonian church. Check this out….
12 May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 13 May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones. (1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 NIV)It’s as if Paul is talking about our hearts being the source of our faith. God wants my heart to be pure, holy and blameless before Him. He wants my heart to direct my behavior. What about my brainpower? I believe that my head can direct my heart and my heart can direct my head. I know that this may be confusing to some. I believe that they are both intricately connected. I use my head to guard my heart and I use my heart to strongly advise my brain. My intellectual being and my emotional being are interwoven and connected. They work in tandem to direct my thoughts, my behavior – my entire existence. I understand more fully how important my heart is to who I am. I’m not just a head person – I’m a heart person. I need both my head and my heart to love God, to serve God, to honor Him and to Worship Him!
I’m talking to God more and more about my heart condition before Him. I want my heart to continue to be shapeable and expandable by Him!
Pressing On! Dwayne
