The Globetrotters Were A Hit!
I just got home from attending a community event here in Carrollton. The Harlem Globetrotters played a charity basketball game against some community leaders. There were thousands in attendance. The globetrotters have a knack for involving the crowd in the game. Meadowlark Lemon, who’s been around forever is the lead globetrotter. When asked about his age, he says that he’s between 18 & 81 – I’m guessing closer to 81 🙂
One of the things that struck me as a spectator is that we were all there to support a great cause. Our Central High School Marching Pride have been invited to march in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA on New Years Day 2011. The event tonight was a fund-raising event for that trip. From my perspective it was a huge success!
I look around at others during the game and there were lots of smiles. The trotters made the game very interesting and funny as they pulled their classic antics and the crowd laughed at the right places and cheered at the right times. I also enjoyed remembering some of the funnier plays from tonight’s game.
I was made aware of just how much it feels good to be part of community. We need each other like a basketball team.
