Fake Christian
That sounds like to me an oxymoron. I’m not sure if there is such a thing as a “fake Christian”. A Christian is person who believes in Jesus Christ and follows His teachings. The Bible introduces Jesus as the One and Only Son of God. He came to this earth to show us how to live. He became the Final and Ultimate sacrifice for our sin. He calls us live honest and true lives following the call of God on our lives.
Ezekiel is God’s prophet speaking to the people of Israel and he “calls them out” because their lives do not match what their words say. Check this out….
30 “But as for you, human, your people are talking about you by the walls and in the doorways of houses. They say to each other: ‘Come now, and hear the message from the Lord.’ 31 So they come to you in crowds as if they were really ready to listen. They sit in front of you as if they were my people and hear your words, but they will not obey them. With their mouths they tell me they love me, but their hearts desire their selfish profits. 32 To your people you are nothing more than a singer who sings love songs and has a beautiful voice and plays a musical instrument well. They hear your words, but they will not obey them. 33 “When this comes true, and it surely will happen, then the people will know that a prophet has been among them.” (Ezekiel 33:30-33 NCV)As I read this passage of scripture, I was convicted that this probably represents a lot of people today who wear the name Christian, but their lives don’t display Christ. In other words, their words and their life don’t match. This is by definition a hypocrite. The words from Ezekiel are the words of God spoken through Him. The One Person who knows if my heart and words and life style are consistent is the ONLY JUDGE that matters. I can’t fake Him out. I can fake others out and make others think that I’m super spiritual. I’ve had my moments of “fakeness”. It’s not a fun place to be.
I want to be a real, honest follower of Jesus. I want to admit when I’m wrong and get back on track with His call for me. I want the words out of my mouth to honor Him. I want my choices to honor Him. I want my heart to be pure and devoted to Him. I want to love like He loves. I want to hear the words one day, “Welcome home – good and faithful servant”. I want to be a REAL Christian.
Pressing On! Dwayne
