Arrogance
This word brings some repulsive thoughts to me. I get pretty frustrated with arrogant people. I actually looked up the definition on dictionary.com to make sure I have a clear understanding of the word. It is defined as: “offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing pride”. I can see why the Lord hates arrogance too. It is related to pride, which is also another destructive character flaw.
Ezekiel is God’s mouthpiece to the world during his day. The Lord would give him a message and it was Ezekiel’s job to deliver it. The city of Tyre had become very arrogant at the demise of Jerusalem. The Lord was obviously frustrated about their arrogance. Check this out….

Pride can cloud my judgment and screw up my thinking. I began to think that I did everything and take the credit from the One Who is really my provider and provider. The Lord is the Source of ALL that is good. He never ceases to amaze me. He is consistent and careful. He calls me to become the opposite of arrogant and prideful. He calls me to be humble and contrite in heart. If I recognize Him as Lord of ALL and the Giver of ALL good things, then there is no place for arrogance in my heart. He is the One Who is important and superior. I am subject to Him – period! If I keep the proper perspective on the hierarchy of my life with Jesus as Lord, then I won’t ever display arrogance. Humility chases out the arrogance in my heart.
