The Lord Says….

When I see the words: “This is what the Lord says”, I’ve learned to believe it.  I don’t necessarily believe the person who is saying it. I think anyone can claim to hear from the Lord, but ONLY people with the Holy Spirit in them actually hear from Him. I believe the Lord speaks directly to us in many ways. I see God speaking in His Word quite often. He reveals deep truth about Himself. He also speaks in the whisper of the wind or the clap of thunder. He speaks through other people who are in close communion with Him.  He spoke through Jeremiah to warn the people of judgment that was coming. Check this out…

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”

 1The Lord spoke his word to Jeremiah soon after Zedekiah son of Josiah was made king of Judah. 2This is what the Lord said to me: “Make a yoke out of straps and poles, and put it on the back of your neck. 3Then send messages to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon by their messengers who have come to Jerusalem to see Zedekiah king of Judah. 4Tell them to give this message to their masters: ‘The Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: “Tell your masters: 5I made the earth, its people, and all its animals with my great power and strength. I can give the earth to anyone I want. 6Now I have given all these lands to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, my servant. I will make even the wild animals obey him. 7All nations will serve Nebuchadnezzar and his son and grandson. Then the time will come for Babylon to be defeated, and many nations and great kings will make Babylon their servant. (Jeremiah 27:1-6 NCV)

 I may not like what the Lord says, but I had better pay close attention to His instruction. He speaks into my world even today and directs my path IF I will listen. I have given the Lord the rule and reign of my heart and my life – I will do what He says WHEN He says to do it. He is in charge of my life and my world and my future.
