Calling

It’s very difficult to explain to another person what a calling from God feels or sounds like, unless they’ve felt a calling from Him in their own life.  I work at my listening skills today listening for God to call just like I did as a younger man. I felt clearly called to full time ministry back in 1980. I felt His Presence in me speaking directly into my soul. It was a moment that I still recall pretty clearly. I felt like the Lord revealed Himself to me personally. He directed my path to ministry where I would serve for the next 20 years. Over 10 years ago I could see my ministry coming to a close and I began exploring Real Estate as a career option. I went to school at night online and obtained my license.  I was constantly in conversation with the Lord about what the next chapter of my life looked like. In early 2003, I resigned my ministry position to go full time in Real Estate. I was asked to remain on staff part-time at the church to lead the worship each week.  All of that took place over 10 years ago and even today, I believe I’m where He wants me to be. I feel called to be a REALTOR.  I know that some may not understand this, given their predisposition to REALTORS, however, I know how the Lord speaks to me and I get what He’s saying.   Check out Jeremiah’s call….

 4 The Lord spoke his word to me, saying:

5 “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you.
    

Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work.
    

I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

6 Then I said, “But Lord God, I don’t know how to speak. I am only a boy.”

7 But the Lord said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am only a boy.’ You must go everywhere I send you, and you must say everything I tell you to say.

8 Don’t be afraid of anyone, because I am with you to protect you,” says the Lord.

9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth. He said to me, “See, I am putting my words in your mouth.

10 Today I have put you in charge of nations and kingdoms. You will pull up and tear down, destroy and overthrow, build up and plant.” (Jeremiah 1:4-10 NCV)

 I have felt the affirmation of the Lord many times to be able to serve wherever I am. I felt God’s affirmation on the merger of two real estate companies almost 3 years ago. I feel the affirmation on my role in serving old friends in Real Estate as well as meeting new people for the first time and helping them purchase a home or sell a home.  I believe that God wants all of His kids to be in ministry. I serve others because he saved me! I want to be dead-center in the will of the Lord. I want to go where He sends me and say what He speaks into me. I want to consistently follow the calling of the Lord!
