How Will It End?

I remember watching a movie called “The Truman Show” where Jim Carey was in some sort of dome like controlled environment and all of his life was on TV. He was an insurance salesman. It was supposedly the most watched show because everyone was drawn into this hoax and watching him grow up and go to work and interact with tons of actors. It was actually an entertaining film from 1998. Shortly after you are drawn into the movie, the question is asked by one of the producers: “How will the show end?”

I think we are all writing the story of our lives every day in how we live. We may not be “writing it all down” or videoing our whole life for others to see later. We are however living out our lives often with no thought to the ending. When I’m around death, I’m faced to think of my own ending. It’s a tough subject for most everyone. The people of Israel were facing judgment and the end for them was near. Check this out….

3 The earth will be completely empty. The wealth will all be taken, because the Lord has commanded it.

4 The earth will dry up and die;
 the world will grow weak and die;
 the great leaders in this land will become weak.

5 The people of the earth have ruined it, because they do not follow God’s teachings 
or obey God’s laws
 or keep their agreement with God that was to last forever. At that time the Lord will punish
the powers in the sky above
 and the rulers on earth below.

22 They will be gathered together 
like prisoners thrown into a dungeon;
they will be shut up in prison.
 After much time they will be punished.

23 The moon will be embarrassed,
and the sun will be ashamed,
because the Lord All-Powerful will rule as king
on Mount Zion in Jerusalem.
Jerusalem’s leaders will see his greatness. (Isaiah 24:3-5; 22-23 NCV)

 I don’t know when or exactly how life on this earth ends. I do believe that it’s not eternal, it’s temporary. I believe that God will come again to take His children home to heaven-that’s eternal.  I do believe in heaven and hell and I want to go to heaven for sure. I also believe that the only way to heaven in through Jesus. If I understand scripture, it speaks clearly on this subject. Jesus is the only way to restore my broken relationship with God.

I’m not sure when I will die and leave this earth. I’m not sure if I’ll be here when Jesus returns. I don’t know how my life will end, but I do know this, I want my heart to belong to Jesus the rest of my days. I trust Him with the ending. I didn’t have much to do with my beginning, but I know His presence has guided me through my life. I honestly can’t imagine life without the Lord. He will be with me to the end – He promised.
