Honored to Lead
There are times when leadership is frustrating, hard and even painful. There still needs to be someone with courage and expertise to lead on. Sometimes leaders are incapable and incompetent. At other times, they are very humble, but strong as steel. There are some leaders, strong as steel who might be clueless to their call or their ability. Check this out….
20 “At that time I will call for my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah. 21 I will take your robe and put it on him and give him your belt. I will hand over to him the important job you have, and he will be like a father to the people of Jerusalem and the family of Judah. 22 I will put the key to the house of David around his neck. If he opens a door, no one will be able to close it; if he closes a door, no one will be able to open it. 23 He will be like an honored chair in his father’s house. I will make him strong like a peg that is hammered into a strong board. 24 All the honored and important things of his family will depend on him; all the adults and little children will depend on him. They will be like bowls and jars hanging on him. (Isaiah 22:20-24 NCV)I believe most leaders feel called to lead. They possess the qualities needed to lead and they enjoy the journey. There are others who are leaders more for their accomplishment or their life as a celebrity, but they have followers. By definition a leader is cutting a path for everyone else to follow. I’m a leader is some areas, yet I’m a follower in other areas. I believe leadership is a calling too. It can get lonely and scary when leading because so many depend on you.
I’m grateful for leaders who lead with integrity and excellent work ethics. These are qualities worthy of their calling and worthy of honor from the people whom they lead.
Pressing On! Dwayne
