Healing Power
I sometimes wish that I had become a doctor. They have such knowledge and medicine at their fingertips. They also have such pressure to be a change maker. I know that some doctors really take their role seriously and others are a bit more casual. My doctors all seem to actually care about me and my family and that makes a big difference to me. My wife also works for a great group of doctors so I get to see how the office functions behind the scenes. The thing I’ve realized over the years is that doctors are humans too. They have their own set of worries and concerns. Their profession is a helping profession too. They sometimes perform amazing procedures and other times they make mistakes. Thankfully their mistakes are few and their successes are numerous. Jesus started off His ministry on earth by healing and changing lives. He was absolutely amazing to be around. He changed lives everywhere He went. Check this out….
18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples. 20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” 22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. 23 When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. 26 News of this spread through all that region. (Matthew 9:18-26 NIV)Jesus’s healing presence changed people all around Him. He acted on the faith of the person in need of healing. He also acted on the faith of friends of the one who needed healing. He was about changing their lives forever. He still is. His power to heal is still real. In one instance, He heals two guys who were blind and He says to them… “according to your faith it will be done to you.” They both were healed.
Sometimes I need healing from stupid habits or addictions. Sometimes I need healing from a cold. I also need physical healing at times. I know people who need healing from cancer, disease or an accident that did a lot of physical damage to them. I still believe that God has the power to heal. I don’t understand why He doesn’t always heal the person who asked. That is a huge mystery to me. I know He knows things that I don’t know, but I’ve prayed for healing that didn’t happen. I’ve also prayed for healing and it happened. I will not stop believing in the Great Physician. He is the only Doctor capable of healing my body and my soul. He alone has that healing power!
Pressing On! Dwayne
