Small Beginnings

gesture of handThere are times when I begin a project that it seems so small and insignificant starting out, but then it turns into something God-sized! I am constantly reminded that when God is in it, He’s in charge of the size and significant impact of anything and everything I do!

I love this chapter in Zechariah about the significance of Zerubbabal. (I’m not sure why you would name your kid that-lol!) This guy was obedient to the Lord and had a bright future. Check this out…

6 Then he told me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘You will not succeed by your own strength or by your own power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord All-Powerful.
7 “Who are you, big mountain? In front of Zerubbabel you will become flat land, and he will bring out the topmost stone, shouting, ‘It’s beautiful! It’s beautiful!’”
8 Then the Lord spoke his word to me again, saying, 9 “Zerubbabel has laid the foundation of this Temple, and he will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord All-Powerful has sent me to you.
10 “The people should not think that small beginnings are unimportant. They will be happy when they see Zerubbabel with tools, building the Temple.(Zechariah 4:6-10 NCV)

The rebuilding of the temple had a small beginning, but huge significance. God was in it and He was leading it. The Temple of God represented the Presence of God among the people – so it mattered.

I want to pay close attention to the little beginnings in my life today. If I will pay close attention I can see that the Lord is at work in a big way through small beginnings!

Pressing On!
Dwayne
